Another Day, Another Bomb

Death Total Hits 31 As 2nd Bomb Blast Rocks Volgograd

this time it was a bus, last time it was the train station

MOSCOW (AP)—Russian authorities ordered police to beef up security at train stations and other facilities across the country after a suicide bomber killed 14 people on a bus Monday in the southern city of Volgograd.

It was the second deadly attack in two days on the city that lies just 400 miles (650 kilometers) from the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. Russian authorities said they believe the latest attack was the work of the same group that set off a deadly bomb Sunday at Volgograd’s main railway station.

Together, at least 31 people were killed in the two explosions, putting the city of 1 million on edge and highlighting the terrorist threat that Russia faces as it prepares to host February’s Winter Games in Sochi. While terrorists may find it hard to get into tightly guarded Olympic facilities, the bombings have shown they can hit civilian targets elsewhere in Russia with shocking ease.

And in 40 days the entire world will be visiting next door in Sochi for the Winter Olympics.

Friggin’ terrorists. Well duh ... pretty much by definition, they suck all the fun out of life. By sucking life out of life. Ah hell, they just plain suck.

Vladimir Markin, the spokesman for Russia’s main investigative agency, said Monday’s explosion involved a bomb similar to the one used in Sunday’s attack.

“That confirms the investigators’ version that the two terror attacks were linked,” Markin said in a statement.

Markin said a suicide bomber was responsible for the bus explosion, reversing an earlier statement that the blast was caused by a bomb left behind. At least 14 people were killed Monday and nearly 30 were wounded, according to public health officials. It was not clear if the dead included the bomber.

Seventeen people died in Sunday’s suicide bombing, including the bomber, authorities said.

No one has claimed responsibility for either bombing, but they came several months after Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov threatened new attacks against civilian targets in Russia, including the Olympics.

Volgograd, formerly called Stalingrad, also serves as an important symbol of Russian pride because of the historic World War II battle in which the Soviets turned the tide against the Nazis.

Volgograd is a city on the Volga River in a Russian province/state also called Volgograd. It is in south west Russia, east of Ukraine and the Black Sea, and just west of Khazakstan. That puts it north of Turkey, Georgia, and Chechnya, and just a boat ride north across the Caspian Sea from Tehran. In other words, it’s well beneath    the dread shadow of Mordor    the loving wings of Islam. Or darn close to them.

whose side is he on?

Our President, or theirs??

Iran’s centrifuge surprise

AFTER IRAN ANNOUNCES a new generation of equipment to enrich uranium, Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., says the Islamic Republic is ‘showing their true intentions’ toward building nuclear weapons and deserves increased sanctions — a demand President Obama opposes.

Surprise? To whom exactly is this a surprise? This is not even “unexpected”, like those massaged to death lies about the economy thrown out as news stories.

Not one single real American had the slightest doubt that somthing like this would happen, under Obama directly, but even more so under Secretary of State John Fuckface Kerry the traitor and his laughably worthless “treaty”.

What kind of fools run this country, and why do they persist in believing that We The People are as big a bunch of fools as they are??

President Obama faced mounting bipartisan pressure on Friday to drop his resistance to an Iran sanctions bill after Tehran announced a new generation of equipment to enrich uranium—a move the Israelis claimed was further proof the regime seeks nuclear weapons.

One of the president’s top Democratic allies is leading the charge for Congress to pass sanctions legislation, despite the president’s pleas to stand down. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez, D-N.J., told Fox News that the “Iranians are showing their true intentions” with their latest announcement.

“If you’re talking about producing more advanced centrifuges that are only used to enrich uranium at a quicker rate ... the only purposes of that and the only reason you won’t give us access to [a military research facility] is because you’re really not thinking about nuclear power for domestic energy—you’re thinking about nuclear power for nuclear weapons,” he said.

Fuck, even a dirty little Lolita whoremonger Senator from NJ can see this one coming. What’s with our great leader? At this point I seriously, seriously question whether he is working to bring about the New Caliphate, The Seventh Imam, and the collapse of the West.

And yeah, I blame Bush for half of this. He should have dropped a nuke on Tehran, just for the fun of it, back at the onset of Gulf War II. Or at the very least saturation bombed their nuclear R&D mountain redoubt until it was a giant crater 1/2 mile deep. Oh heck, Iran were even expecting us to do so at the time. But no ... Chimpy McHitlerBurton trotted out that giant NSA/CIA/FBI report: look here you stupid flyover rednecks - Iran isn’t trying to build nukes! Says so right in this report, so y’all just shut up now and go back to quietly accepting the loss of all those freedoms under the Patriot Act. And the whole country (except for the media) knew it was a lie, yet that was the ONE time his enemy the MSM didn’t doubt his word. Hmmm. Go figure.

This One Doesn’t Count

Not A Mass Shooting

Just Another Night In Da Hood

13 People Shot, Including 3-Year-Old Boy, In Back Of The Yards

Thirteen people, including a 3-year-old boy, were shot at a park in the Back of the Yards neighborhood overnight, when two gunmen opened fire on a crowded basketball court.

CBS 2’s Courtney Gousman reports the victims were taken to six different hospitals after they were shot around 10:15 p.m. at Cornell Square Park, near 51st and Wood streets. Dozens of police officers swarmed the park after the shooting.

Three-year-old Deonta Howard Jr. was with his mother at the park when a bullet struck him in the face. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, but was expected to survive.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was in Washington, D.C., on Friday, but cancelled his schedule there and was flying back to Chicago. His office issued a written statement from the mayor:

“Senseless and brazen acts of violence have no place in Chicago and betray all that we stand for. The perpetrators of this crime will be brought to justice and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I encourage everyone in the community to step forward with any information and everyone in Chicago to continue their individual efforts to build stronger communities where violence has no place.”

As of early Friday, no one was in custody for the shooting, but police were hoping security cameras at the park would lead them to the gunmen.

Just another night in Chicago’s hood. A whole bunch of folks - adults, teens and small children - out playing ball after 10pm on a school night. Two homies who can’t shoot for shit show up and just start poppin’.

Meanwhile, other folks are wondering about Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis’ possible connection to jihad, and how this not-well-paid guy managed to get to Thailand for vacations. Hmmm.

Back ‘er up Achmed!

Talk about things going in circles. Or going backwards.

Syria has moved 20 trucks worth of equipment and material used for the manufacturing of chemical weapons into neighboring Iraq, the Lebanese daily Al-Mustaqbal reported on Sunday.

The government in Baghdad has denied allegations that it is helping the Syrian government conceal chemical stockpiles.

The report came just a day after the United States and Russia struck a deal stipulating that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime would destroy its chemical arsenal to avert an American military assault.

The newspaper reported that the trucks crossed the boundary separating Syria with Iraq over the course of Thursday and Friday. Border guards did not inspect the contents of the trucks, which raises suspicions that they contained illicit cargo, according to Al-Mustaqbal.

Golly. Seems like it was barely 10 years ago when we saw this picture on TV, showing us all those WMDs of Saddam’s that didn’t exist, being trucked over the border into Syria a month before we started the invasion.

Which was purely coincidental, I’m sure, after some Democrat ... was it Jim McDermott or was it Nancy or Teddy, or Jay Rockefeller, I don’t recall ... went over there and let him know we were absolutely going to come by and stomp him real soon.

image

And now they’re going the other way. Shame we don’t have troops on the ground in Iraq.

“We have learned nothing”

12 years after 9/11, the President of the United States is ARMING al Qaeda.

Yup. Obama sent ... literally ... a boatload of weaponry to the Syrian rebels. Who are allied with AQ.

Read it. RCOB guaranteed.

Does everyone understand what is going on? The United States, one day after the 12 year anniversary of the 9/11 Terror Attacks, has now contributed arms to the cause of those same people who perpetrated them. We are now actively supporting a terrorist network, not just a terrorist network, THE terrorist network. It has taken 12 years for the United States government to forget the names of those responsible for thousands of American dead, it has taken 12 years for the government to decide that those lives, and the sacrifice of thousands of service members do not matter anymore. This should hurt, and it should hurt a lot.

Dodgeball

Mr. Blameless

After shooting his mouth off for weeks over the poison gas in Syria situation, after drawing umpteen red lines in the sand, after being Mr. Tough Guy who was going to Punish His Enemies and Do What Is Right even if he had to Ignore Congress, even if he had to Go It Alone ... Oblameless, now that he’s found out that the UK, France, Germany, and everyone and anyone else out there who can actually drop bombs or shoot off missiles wants no part in this ... now he’s going to let Congress make the decision. You see, that way, if THEY say NO, it ain’t his fault.

What a two-faced chicken shit we have for a pResident.

President Obama announced Saturday that he has concluded the United States should take military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his regime for using chemical weapons on civilians, but will first seek authorization from Congress.

“This menace must be confronted,” Obama said of the Assad regime’s alleged strike, speaking from the Rose Garden.

The announcement, though, sets up a timetable for debate that could drag on for weeks.

Obama said he would wait for Congress to return from recess; members are not scheduled to return until Sept. 9. Yet the president claimed any military response to Syria is “not time sensitive” and would be effective even one month from now.

The decision to seek congressional authorization is a departure from the administration’s decision to intervene in Libya in 2011. Though the president said he thinks he has the authority to order a military strike, he made clear he will ask Congress to vote on the issue.

“I have decided that the United States should take military action against Syrian regime targets,” the president said. He added: “I’m also mindful that I’m president of the world’s oldest constitutional democracy.”

imageSo you know what is going to happen: nothing. If it ever even comes to a vote, the civil war in Syria could be over by then. If it does come to a vote, it’s pretty much a guarantee that no authorization will be forthcoming.

So I guess I’ll have to put away Conservative mirror and my collection of old leftist memes I was so ready to reflect back at him ...

“Mr. pResident, why are you rushing us to war?”
“Unilateral! Unilateral!! Unilateral!!!”
“Wrong war for the wrong reason at the wrong time”
“No evidence!!!!”

And as much as I hate to say it, by shirking responsibility, Obama winds up doing the right thing: nothing. Because there is NO way for the USA to win here. No way. We bomb the country, we’re baby killers and the entire pisslamic world rises up in anger, again, as usual, Islamic Rage Boy with a pancake on his head, let’s go burn some nuns in Africa. We take out Asswad, and we’re international assassins run by the CIA and no nation or leader on earth is safe. We blow up the entire Syrian government, and the rebels and their terrorist group wins. We blow up the rebels, and the Syrain government and their terrorist group wins. We arm either side, we’re supporting terrorists. We arm BOTH sides, we’re supporting even more terrorists.

So just walk away.

But Obama, he’s the ultimate pro at this kind of game. He shoots his mouth off, dithers forever, walks away doing nothing (aka “votes present"), AND finds somebody else to blame it on.

Crivens.

Such A Coincidence

Massive Fire Shuts Down Top Kenya Airport

15 years to the day from the 1998 US embassy bombings there that killed 200

image

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenyan authorities ordered the temporary closing on Wednesday of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi after a huge fire broke out and raged for four hours, officials and witnesses said. The blaze spread to the international arrivals area, bringing East Africa’s busiest airport to a standstill and turning parts of it into charred ruins.

By mid-afternoon, Michael Kamau, a senior government transport official, told reporters that the airport had been partially reopened for domestic and cargo flights, but international traffic was still suspended. Airport authorities planned to convert another part of the facility to a temporary terminal for international flights, he said.

The airport handles 16,000 passengers a day, officials said, and is a vital link for Kenya’s cut flower export business — an important source of foreign currency along with the country’s tourism trade on beaches and in game reserves, and the exportation of tea.

The fire started at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, when many flights to and from Europe and elsewhere were scheduled.

Wednesday, Aug. 7, is the anniversary of the 1998 coordinated bombings of United States Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, attacks that killed more than 200 people.

But Kenya’s antiterror police boss, Boniface Mwaniki, told The A.P. that he wanted to wait for the fire to be extinguished before making a judgment about whether terrorism had been involved. Kenya is a key Western ally, abutting troubled areas of neighboring Somalia.

...

The fire lasted several hours, Ms. Price, 32, said in a telephone interview, and appeared to have caused major damage. “It looked like it would be hard to repair,” she said.

Nothing to see here, move along, I’m sure.

Wonder Where That Came From???

Egypt: Jihadis Fired A Hellfire Missile At Us

A bit lost in the shuffle is the fact that when the Egyptian Army threw out Morsi, the very first thing they did was shut down the border with Gaza. Sealed. Crushed the tunnels, closed the crossing points. And Hamas, which is really big in Gaza, is suffering.

Yeah, how awful that Egypt is having a step backwards on the road to a democratic government. IMO, let the army kill all the terrorists and all the Muslim Brotherhood (long a thorn in the side over there) and a whole crapload of radical imams, and then go play the democracy game.

But in the mean time ...

Egypt claims jihadists fired US Hellfire missile at government office

Jihadists in Egypt’s lawless Sinai Peninsula are using U.S. weapons to carry out attacks against the temporary government in the wake of the military’s ouster of President Mohammed Morsi, according to the embattled nation’s Interior Ministry.

The government office posted an official statement on its Facebook page along with images of an exploded missile that hit the third floor of a building in the city of el-Arish last week. The post said terrorist forces targeted the North Sinai Security Directorate office with a ballistic missile that struck the third floor facade of the building, leaving three soldiers injured. While attacks in the Sinai, which borders Gaza and is a haven for terrorist activity, have become commonplace, the prospect that militants have U.S. weapons typically fired from helicopters at their disposal is especially alarming.

Three photos of the missile posted by the government agency shows that it appears to be an AGM-114F with a label written in English and the letters “U.S.” stenciled on the side.

Gak. As bad as journalists and guns ... they never get it right. The little Hellfire is a “ballistic missile” only in that if you fire it upwards, eventually it will come down. It’s not AT ALL an ICBM, one of those globe spanning MIRV nukes we used to worry about during the Cold War. That’s what we think of when we hear “ballistic missile”. It’s a tiny little thing which only weighs 100 lb or so.

Reports of U.S.-made weapons turning up in the Sinai date back to at least January, when six U.S.-made missiles were found in a cache of weapons bound for Gaza. And in February, FoxNews.com reported exclusively that weapons left over from the revolution in Libya were being sold at clandestine auctions is the Sinai Peninsula. The U.S. has repeatedly denied arming the Libyan rebels, though it did assist them in other ways with the overthrow of longtime Libyan strongman Muammar Qaddafi.

Riiight. We all know about that. No arms at all, especially not those 20,000 MANPADS gone missing. Or that those AQ-leaning Tauregs fighting for hire in Libya somehow picked up enough arms to allow them to go and take over Mali. No, nothing to see here, move along.

Hellfire missiles in the hands of jihadis? Shit. It’s only a matter of time until airliners start falling from the sky like autumn leaves.

Another Unexpected Jailbreak

jail break in Pakistan as Taliban gunmen storm prison

Golly, who would have ever expected this? It’s only happened, what, a dozen times already, in countries all over the Middle East. All the more reason to only keep the Talis in jail until you get some more ammo.

In an operation carried out with military-like precision, Taliban fighters disguised as police and armed with bombs broke 250 prisoners out of a Pakistan jail on Tuesday with the help of what appeared to be insider informants.

The attack in the city of Dera Ismail Khan showed the ability of the al Qaeda-linked Pakistani Taliban to strike at the heart of Pakistan’s heavily guarded prison system and walk away with dozens of senior Taliban fighters and commanders.

The overnight assault on the Central Prison took place despite reports that regional officials had received intelligence days, if not weeks, ago suggesting such an attack was imminent.

Officials blamed a combination of negligence and lack of communication among Pakistan’s many security agencies, but some suggested there may have been a degree of insider help.

Just hours before the attack, army and police units had met at the jail to discuss security, one source said on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

“It is very difficult to attack such a place without proper information or contacts,” said the police source, adding that some prisoners were suspected to have been in touch with the Taliban by mobile phones provided by sympathetic wardens.

“They are corrupt, lazy and unprofessional. And the militants may have supporters in the city.”

Another senior official in the provincial capital of Peshawar said only about 70 of the 200 prison guards who were meant to be on duty were present that night.

“Most policemen ran for their lives once the attack started, leaving their weapons behind,” the official told Reuters. “They could have easily killed some of the attackers but they even gave up their own guns, providing the attackers with more ammo.”

Horry Clap. Why do we even bother? This part of the world is Janus-land; it seems that everyone is two-faced. This jailbreak was well planned, and executed with the full cooperation of the prison authorities, the police, and the local military. That’s obvious.

You want to win against the Taliban? Stop taking prisoners. Or at least stop leaving them in-country. Send them to Diego Garcia or something. Hey, how about Pig Island (Île aux Cochons, down in the Crozets. Southern Indian Ocean)? Excellent name, way to Hell and gone for isolation; it’s even too far for any Somali pirates to mount a rescue operation. Put up a couple dozen buildings, and send in food and fuel once a month by carrier helicopter drop. No fences needed, and a single destroyer can guard the place as a training mission. Forget that prison in the Seychelles. It’s far too close to the Middle East, and too populated to be above corruption. Or go a bit east and try Possession Island, which seems to be naturally guarded by a large local pod of killer whales. Sweet.

too “rah rah” for inclusion

Too Iconic, Too Patriotic

image

Too “rah-rah American”

Too bad. And fuck you too.

This iconic picture of firefighters raising the stars and stripes in the rubble of Ground Zero was nearly excluded from the 9/11 Memorial Museum — because it was “rah-rah” American, a new book says.

Michael Shulan, the museum’s creative director, was among staffers who considered the Tom Franklin photograph too kitschy and “rah-rah America,” according to “Battle for Ground Zero” (St. Martin’s Press) by Elizabeth Greenspan, out next month.

“I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently,” Shulan said.

This iconic Ground Zero image was seen as too “vehemently” American by some 9/11 Museum staffers.

Shulan had worked on a popular post-9/11 photography exhibit called “Here is New York” in Soho when he was hired by Alice Greenwald, director of the museum, for his “unique approach.”

Eventually, chief curator Jan Ramirez proposed a compromise, Greenspan writes. The Franklin shot was minimized in favor of three different photos via three different angles of the flag-raising scene.

“Several images undercut the myth of ‘one iconic moment,’ Ramirez said, and suggest instead an event from multiple points of view, like the attacks more broadly,” the book says.

“Shulan didn’t like three photographs more than he liked one, but he went along with it.”

Dear NSA ... I know of this shady creative art guy with a foreign sounding name. Seems rather anti-American, you know. You might want to look into him and his associates. What, he’s a huge Obama donator? Never mind.

No, Really?

Another branch of the federal government has been lying to us for years? Oh Noes!!!1!
Yeah right. Like anyone bought their BS in the first place, even back then.

Latest Whistleblowers: TWA 800 Conclusion Fake

A group of whistle-blowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago.

However, the six whistle-blowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down.

Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996, en route to Paris when it exploded and crashed off the coast of nearby East Moriches, Long Island, killing everyone on the plane.

“..This team of investigators who actually handled the wreckage and victims’ bodies, prove that the officially proposed fuel-air explosion did not cause the crash,” reads a statement by the producers of the film, which will debut on cable network EPIX next month. “They also provide radar and forensic evidence proving that one or more ordnance explosions outside the aircraft caused the crash.” However, the statement said they did not speculate about the source or sources of any ordnance explosions.

Ordnance explosions? That means a bomb. With shrapnel. Outside the aircraft? That means the bomb was ... a missile.

Just like we saw in that video that some civilian took at the time. Contrail(s) rising. And the feds turned themselves inside out coming up with some Dr. Science Explains It All cock and bull story about how all that was just sunlight reflected off the underside of clouds or something like that.

Kind of like how the FBI wouldn’t admit that even one single instance of “man made disaster”, and there were many, during the entire Bush administration, were in fact acts of terrorism. Oh no. Workplace violence. Yeah, that’s it. Allawoo Snackbar!! Nothing to see here, clean up the blood and move along.

The whistle-blower team, which includes investigators—at the time—from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), TWA, and the Airline Pilots Association, have since retired from their positions. They claim that at the time, they were placed under a gag order by the NTSB, which they charged falsified the official conclusion of the cause of the crash. They indicated they would elaborate more in a Wednesday media briefing.

So here we go again. Time to tighten the chin strap on your tinfoil hat. It’s gonna be a rough ride.

Can somebody call up Hillary for a quote? “At this point, what difference does it make?”

Benghazi, again?

So now that the election is safely over for Teh iWon, and the Hildabeast has been replaced by that clusterphluck commie J Effin Kerry (he served in Vietnam, did you know that?), it looks like Benghazi is now allowed to be news. Even if White House spokeswhore Jay Carney thinks it was all “a long time ago”.

Plenty of links ... John Bolton thinks this thing could take down the administration (really, no kidding, where ya bin Mr. Mustache?). Senators are waging fingers and getting harumphy over hidden witnesses and gagged whistleblowers, the rest of the media just might be figuring out that this is a story, etc.

I’ve got to go shopping, so here’s a pony cart full of links. Benghazi was just as shameful as abandoning Bataan was back during WWII. And I hope that this time around, somebody fries for it. Because it really does make a difference.

And The Story Shifts Some More

No Gun On The Boat

So how was Boston Bomber part of a  shootout  “standoff” moments before capture?

Will tomorrow’s story be that he had 3 M16s at the time?

Now watch the conspiracy apes go nuts. Again. More so.

Suspected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was unarmed when he took shelter in dry-docked boat and surrendered to authorities, investigators said.

No gun was found in the boat where cops busted Tsarnaev, 19, following a massive manhunt that virtually shut down all of Boston on Friday.

Tsarnaev had been hiding in a boat stored in the backyard of a Watertown, Mass., home. Officers fired a hail of bullets toward the boat before Tsarnaev complied with an FBI negotiator and gave up.

But investigators now say that no firearm was found in the craft.

-- No firearm was found in the boat where the surviving Boston Marathon attack suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was found, several sources from different agencies familiar with the investigation said Thursday. Authorities had said in a criminal complaint there was a standoff between the boat’s occupant and police involving gunfire.

Just like Newtown, every day the story changes. Eventually all the details will come out. Or those that fit the official story.

Also - was Tamerlan a drug dealer? That would tie him closer to those three guys killed 9/11/11, at least one of whom he knew. They were also purported drug dealers. Didn’t I read somewhere that their bodies were found covered in pot?

Investigators are looking into the possibility Tamerlan Tsarnaev—who was married with a young daughter, whom he frequently cared for while his wife worked as a home health aide—may have helped finance the bomb plot through illegal drug sales, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

curiouser and curiouserer by the day.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
